Competitions for the first half of our 2024-25 season will commence at 8:00am on Saturday mornings. We are currently working with Brisbane City Council to finalise a lighting upgrade which we hope will be delivered before Christmas 2024, however, if this project takes longer than anticipated to deliver, we will need to remain on Saturday morning competitions until the lighting upgrade has been completed. Once the lighting upgrade has been completed, we can return to Friday evening competitions for the second half of our season.
Please watch our social pages for any changes to this schedule.
Competition Dates & Times
The Queensland Little Athletics Summer season typically runs from September through to March, with a break during the Christmas/New Year Period. For the 2024-25 season Aspley Little Athletics will commence competition on
Saturday 7 September 2024, with the season ending on Saturday 29 March 2025.
NOTE: The first training session for our 2024-25 season is Monday 2 September 2024.
At Aspley Little Athletics, our season is normally divided into a pre-Christmas, Saturday morning weekly Centre competition meet, and post-New Year, Friday night weekly Centre competition meet. This has been structured this way to take advantage of the cooler evening conditions during the warmer January/February/March months. However, due to an unplanned field lighting upgrade, we will only be able to provide Saturday morning competitions until further notice. Please watch our social pages for any changes to this schedule.
Competition meets are split into Junior (Under 6s – Under 8s) and Senior (Under 9s – Under 17s) age groups.

Each competition meet is divided into four (4) compulsory events, plus one (1) optional event, at times.
The success of our competitions is dependent upon the participation of our parents and caregivers. We require a minimum of four (4) parent volunteers for each age group (boys and girls) in order for events to be conducted safely.
What better way to contribute to your child’s athletics experience and journey? Give it a go!
More information outlining parents’ roles and responsibilities can be found here .
Note: We are always desperately looking for volunteers for Set up and Pack up at the start and end of each weekly Centre competition meet. If we don't have volunteers to assist with the Set up, events cannot start. Please register using our SignUp page to help out with our set up and pack up routines.
If you're new to athletics or you feel like you need to brush up on your knowledge or technique, here is a video from Little Athletics Australia that steps you through the various events offered and what to do as a volunteer when you're helping out.
